First let me tell you a little about my background in the field. I graduated from University
of Texas at Dallas with my bachelor's degree in December 2001. I attended Texas Woman's University via the distance
learning program for my master's. I graduated from there in December 2005. While attending graduate school, I
worked as an a speech assistant in the public schools.
I have been in the school districts for 7 years. After this past year, I decided to go
full time with the pediatric company I had been with part time. Both settings have their benefits, it was just deciding
which setting was going to benefit my family and me the most. I will admit that having a child one on one for 30 minutes
to an hour does have its perks-especially in the area of planning.
Planning themes and lessons is something I enjoy. That is what led me to the development
of this website. I love incorporating books and hands-on crafts in my lessons. The kids love it and they learn
lots out of it. I am not much on the "drill and kill" sessions. I will do those sessions for artic when I have
to, but language is learned so much better through structured activities that the kids see as "fun time in speech."
When I am not working, I enjoy spending time with my husband and two kids. Allysen is
7 and Kent is 2. They are both redheads just like me but have completely different personalities. We love hanging
out at home and watching movies or playing the Wii. I love to shop, scrapbook, spend time with good friends and watch
Mavericks basketball.
I hope you enjoy the site as much as I enjoyed creating it. I am always open to fresh
ideas so please send them my way!
